We want to consider adding EQ and EQD tokens to Polkadot’s Asset Hub (formerly known as Statemint).
Asset Hub is in part supposed to tackle a critical strategic goal of the entire Polkadot ecosystem which can be loosely formulated as bringing about mass adoption.
A typical example of challenges that exist today and can be solved with Asset Hub is CEX integration. We at Equilibrium encountered this firsthand when listing EQ tokens. Many exchanges did not want to do extra development work required to support the Equilibrium parachain. Asset hub solves this by providing a unified solution for DEXs that supports multiple parachain assets.
This also means a unified UI and seamless UX as users will have easy access to parachain assets without knowing about the technology under the hood. The planned Asset Hub DEX would add much-needed swapping functionality to this solution which is another reason to proceed with the integration.
Asset Hub’s other notable features include the following:

Supported tokens can be minted and burned on the Asset Hub chain

Lower transaction fees

Lower existential deposits

Lower deposits for multi-sig operations

A showcase of all assets available in the Polkadot ecosystem (with upcoming swap functionality)

Given everything we mentioned above, adding EQ and EQD to the Asset Hub seems to be in Equilibrium’s best interest. We have already completed the necessary development work and only require a runtime upgrade to enable transfers between Equilibrium parachain and Asset Hub.

- They want to add EQ and EQD tokens to Polkadot's Asset Hub.
- Asset Hub is important for mass adoption of Polkadot.
- Asset Hub solves challenges like CEX integration and provides a unified solution for DEXs.
- Asset Hub has features like minting and burning tokens, lower fees and deposits, and a showcase of assets in the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Equilibrium has completed the necessary development work and just needs a runtime upgrade for transfers between Equilibrium parachain and Asset Hub.
